Nine individuals, including a 13-year-old boy, have been arrested for rioting with deadly weapons.
A 15-year-old boy was reportedly assaulted by a group of knife-wielding attackers in Lengkok Bahru, Bukit Merah, on September 2, according to a police statement released on Thursday.
The police were notified at 8:45 p.m., and investigations revealed that the victim was assaulted because of a past argument, the report stated.
He sustained multiple injuries and was sent to the hospital while still awake.
The following week, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Clementi Police Division apprehended nine individuals, including eight teenagers. The oldest suspect is 24 years old, and all suspects are male.
Officers seized knives alleged to have been used in the attack during the arrests.
According to the police, all nine suspects have been charged with armed rioting under Section 148 of the Penal Code of 1871.
