It appears Singaporeans have difficulty building lasting romantic relationships, or even initiating them.
The survey results presented by the National Population and Talent Division on Monday, October 10, 2022, revealed that "many single respondents had never dated before."
The Marriage and Parenthood study was conducted between February and June 2021 with 2,848 single and 3,017 married Singaporeans aged 21 to 45 as respondents.
Singles are individuals who have never been married.
Many singles have never been in a relationship.
50 percent of single respondents were not actively dating, and 38 percent of these individuals had never dated before.
