After receiving a bomb threat on Thursday (July 21) morning, Evergreen Secondary School in Woodlands evacuated its students and staff.
It turned out to be a hoax, Education Minister Chan Chun Sing explained.
"The police reacted immediately and did a comprehensive search of the school grounds. "The police have concluded their security checks and decided that the threat was bogus," Mr. Chan said on Facebook.
The personnel and pupils of the school were calm and followed their evacuation routine as planned.
The Parents Gateway app urged parents not to send their children to school.
"All students who were in school this morning have been accounted for and have been requested to return home as a precaution," the minister stated.
In response to CNA's questions, police stated that a male adolescent is collaborating with the investigation and that the matter is being investigated under the United Nations (Anti-Terrorism Measures) Regulations 2001.
The police said they were notified of a possible bomb threat at 11 Woodlands Street 83 at around 7:40 a.m.
During security inspections, no dangerous materials were discovered, according to police.
They said, "The police take all security concerns seriously and will pursue anyone who purposely frighten the public."
Mr. Chan stated that instructors are doing well-being checks on children, and school counselors are available to assist any student if necessary.
Mr. Chan stated, "I am relieved that all of our children and employees are safe and applaud the police for their prompt reaction."
"The safety of our children and faculty is of the utmost importance, and the Ministry of Education will not allow any threat or action that puts our schools at risk," he stressed.
Together with law enforcement, we will take action against anybody who creates public concern.
