According to Lianhe Zaobao, corrosive substances were discovered in a package at Singapore Post's eCommerce Logistics Hub in Tampines on March 7 at 4 p.m.
According to reports, the Hub was later cordoned off for more than three hours, and approximately 100 people were forced to evacuate the building.
In response to Mothership's questions, the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) revealed that four workers who had handled the package experienced hand discomfort and sought treatment at a nearby polyclinic before SCDF's arrival.
A 43-year-old male is presently assisting with police investigations, according to the Singapore Police Force.
The parcel was recovered on March 7 at the SingPost eCommerce Logistics Centre at 37 Greenwich Road, according to Zaobao.
The SCDF verified to Mothership that it was notified of an incident at 37 Greenwich Drive on March 7 at around 4:10 p.m.
Upon arrival, SCDF personnel wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) found and recovered a package that had been leaking an unknown substance.
The item was placed in a container by SCDF's Hazmat specialists, and its contents were subjected to multiple tests.
The chemical was determined to be corrosive.
The police have already been given the sealed package.
In addition, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) verified with Mothership that they were alerted that someone needed help at about 4 p.m.
Four men between the ages of 17 and 27 who received minor injuries rejected transport.
A conscious 40-year-old male was sent to the hospital.
A man of 43 years of age is supporting police investigations.
SingPost promptly restored normal operations.
A SingPost official told Zaobao that normal operations resumed immediately after the incident occurred.
Nevertheless, the spokesman said that the company was unable to comment further since police investigations were underway.
