Did Simonboy's negligence cause Megan's death?

Megan Khung's death was only came to light after Simonboy lodged a police report on 20 Jul 2020, where he claimed that he last saw Megan and his ex-wife Foo Li Ping in Feb 2017 before he was incarcerated. He had lodged the report as he was concerned about Megan's whereabouts and safety, but he could have prevented this tragedy from the start. If he was not a drug abuser and absent father, Megan would not be left on her own to suffer in silence from the abusive behaviour of her mother and boyfriend who were both drug abusers.

Today, Foo and her then-boyfriend Wong Shi Xiang were charged in court for their horrific abuse on Megan. Foo was to be jailed for 19 years, while Wong will be jailed for 30 years and given 17 strokes of the cane.

After Simonboy and Foo separated, Foo and Megan moved in with Foo's mother. Foo then moved in with Wong when they got together. During this period, Simonboy was still incarcerated and was unable to visit Megan. However, he was aware that his ex-wife Foo and her boyfriend Wong were both hardcore drug abusers, but did not even think twice about removing Megan from such an irresponsible parent? Why did he not report his ex-wife for being a negligent parent at that point in time? Also, why did the wife choose to abuse Megan like that, could it be a revenge for whatever Simonboy did to her when they are together. There are just too many questions that were left unanswered.

Following the verdict, Simonboy published an Instagram post expressing his apologies towards his late daughter. He also published an Instagram story detailing his anger towards this incident. It is nonetheless too belated for him to express his apologies towards his daughter when he should have been a better parent for her when she was alive.

Despite Simonboy's claims that he was in prison when Megan was abused, the onus was on him to have exhausted all his means to remove Megan from her dangerous environment. With Simonboy's next child on the way, one can only hope that he learnt from this tragedy to become a better parent.
