The Prime Minister's Office announced on Sunday that Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will serve as Acting Prime Minister this week while Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is on leave (June 12).
Lee will be out of the office from Monday through Sunday.
Mr. Wong, who is also the Minister of Finance, was made Deputy Prime Minister as part of the Cabinet reshuffle announced on Monday.
It was also revealed at same time that he will serve as acting prime minister in PM Lee's absence.
In April, Mr. Wong was chosen by his peers to lead the People's Action Party's fourth-generation leadership, clearing the path for him to become Singapore's next prime minister.
