Starting on November 1, 2023, the installation of On-Board Units (OBU) in fleet vehicles, including motorcycles and all other types of vehicles, will be carried out gradually. Vehicle owners will be notified by LTA in a phased manner, and they will receive instructions on how to book an installation appointment.
For all other vehicles, the OBU installation will also occur incrementally. Starting from the first quarter of 2024, new vehicles will come equipped with the OBU. The remaining existing vehicles will be scheduled for installation in groups, with the order determined by the age of the vehicles. It is anticipated that the entire OBU installation process will be finalized by the end of 2025.
Notably, if the installation is completed within the two-month timeframe specified in the notification, it will be free of charge. Further information regarding individual vehicle installations will be announced in the early part of the next year.
Although ERP 2.0 is equipped to support distance-based charging using GNSS, LTA currently has no immediate plans to implement distance-based charging.
