Evergreen giving out 52 month's bonuses to its employees

After record earnings in 2022, container lines led by Evergreen Marine have rewarded its employees with significant bonuses.

Evergreen, a Taiwanese company, has distributed bonuses totaling between 10 and 52 months of salary.

In the past few months, container freight prices have fallen from historic highs, but lines are still flush with cash due to the recovery from pandemic lockdowns.

According to the Liberty Times, Evergreen provided up to 40 months of pay as a bonus to some employees in 2021.

The majority of last year's rewards fell between 10 and 45 months, although those deemed to have excellent performance received 52 months.

Evergreen has not responded beyond the statement that each employee was rewarded based on performance. In the first nine months of last year, the owner declared a net profit of TWD 304.35bn ($9.91bn), an increase of 92% year-over-year.

Yang Ming Marine, a domestic competitor, was offering up to thirteen months of wages. The company's nine-month earnings were TWD 165.85 billion.

Le Marin stated that the French multinational CMA CGM awarded a bonus equal to ten weeks of pay.

Rodolphe Saade, the chief executive, informed employees that a general salary rise agreement for office personnel had also been approved.

In its first nine months, the corporation earned $21.8 billion.

In 2021, employees earned eight more weeks of salary.

The general salary increase consists of a 6% increase to counteract inflation, plus a 2% increase for certain employees.

Profit-sharing will also result in an additional two months' income for employees.
