Father ran over 2-year-old in a freak accident

Monday's accident in a Woodlands parking lot involving a vehicle and three pedestrians resulted in the death of a two-year-old child.

A 33-year-old driver has been arrested for reckless driving that resulted in a fatality.

The Straits Times believes that the driver is the toddler's father.

In response to inquiries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that they were notified of the accident at 32 Woodlands Street Block 332 at 2.40 p.m.

Police said that an unconscious two-year-old was sent to the hospital, where she ultimately died.

The other two pedestrians, a four-year-old boy and a woman aged 34, were conscious when transported to the hospital.

According to the Chinese-language newspaper Lianhe Zaobao, the four accident victims were a family who had dined at a nearby coffee shop soon before the incident.

Neighbors told Lianhe Zaobao that the toddler tumbled out of her stroller as it rolled down the driveway and was struck by the reversing vehicle.

A video uploaded to the Facebook group SG Road Vigilante depicted police and SCDF on the site.
