Former Singapore Idol judge Ken Lim, 58, was charged on Thursday with molesting a 25-year-old woman at his office in 2021 using criminal force.
The local music producer intends to request a trial on one count of indecent exposure.
Navin Naidu, a lawyer at Dentons Rodyk & Davidson, informed the court that his client, 58-year-old Lim, maintains his innocence and would not be pleading guilty.
According to court records, on the evening of November 23, 2021, Lim reportedly used criminal force to violate the woman's modesty by stroking her breast with skin-to-skin contact.
The victim's name is concealed by a gag order.
The incident allegedly occurred in his office on Henderson Road at Hype Records.
According to the e-resources website of the National Library Board, Lim operates Hype Records, a local record label, music management, and marketing firm.
According to his LinkedIn page, Lim is the executive director of the firm. Yet, the website of Hype Records did not include any directors or management team.
Although investigations had lasted more than 15 months, the defense attorney for Lim requested that the trial for his case begin immediately.
Also, the attorney requested permission for Lim to leave Singapore.
The pre-trial conference for the case of Lim was scheduled for April 14, 2023. He was given a $10,000 bail.
Lim was the head judge of the reality singing competition Singapore Idol on television.
He was also the originator of the local singing competition The Final 1, which premiered in April 2013 and included Taufik Batisah and Kit Chan as judges.
If found guilty of outrage of modesty, Lim may face up to two years in prison, a fine, or both. The penalty also consists of caning, although offenders older than 50 cannot be caned.
