Glue-handed men strikes Singapore casinos, leaves with sticky chips

Three Chinese nationals have been sentenced to prison for stealing casino chips using strong glue applied to their hands. Huang Chunsheng, 50, Jiang Renjing, 55, and Zheng Jiansheng, 64, all pleaded guilty to theft charges.

Huang and Jiang were given prison sentences of eight and seven months respectively, while Zheng, who also faced charges under the Casino Control Act, was sentenced to 10 months in jail.

The three men applied glue to their palms and used them to pick up chips from casino patrons. They managed to steal $1,575 worth of chips before being caught.

The trio mostly targeted patrons who had placed large bets using a whole stack of chips, making it harder for the victims to notice missing chips.

They had planned to divide the spoils equally, but later decided to keep whatever they stole. After using up their own chips, they retreated to the washrooms to reapply the glue before returning to the casino floor.

Huang was caught red-handed by a casino patron on March 11 and fled the premises, but was later arrested along with his accomplices at another casino.

They have not made any restitution.
