Strait Times stated that a guy from Singapore has sued his romantic interest for not reciprocating his affections. K. Kawshigan is suing Nora Tan for $3 Million (Rs 24 crore) for 'emotional trauma' after learning that she only saw him as a friend.
The two originally met in 2016 and became friends over time. Mr. Kawshigan developed romantic sentiments, but Ms. Tan always viewed the relationship as one of friendship.
In September 2020, the conflict began when Ms. Tan only viewed Mr. Kawshigan as a buddy, but he viewed her as his "closest friend."
Mr. Kawshigan planned to sue her for emotional trauma, but she agreed to attend counseling sessions with him, so he chose to defer legal action.
During the procedure, Ms. Tan expressed "real pain" to the man. Mr. Kawshigan reacted negatively, stating that Ms. Tan could either comply with his requests or face "irreparable" harm to her personal and professional life.
Over the course of more than one and a half years of therapy, Mr. Kawshigan was unable to understand that Ms. Tan did not want to be in a relationship with him.
After she stopped communicating with him, he filed two lawsuits against her: a $3 million High Court claim for allegedly causing "damage to his stellar reputation" and "trauma, depression, and impacts" to his life, and a $22,000 magistrate's court claim for allegedly breaching an agreement to improve their relationship.
The $3 million High Court action has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for February 9.
