ICA clearance system down, expect delays

A breakdown in the immigration clearance system is likely to cause delays at both land and air checkpoints.

Friday at 11.28 a.m., the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) reported the interruption on Facebook, adding that it "regrets the inconvenience caused to travelers and requests their patience."

The agency said in an update at 2:03 p.m. that Changi Airport passengers are being routed to staffed immigration counters since all automated departure lanes in all four airport terminals are affected by the interruption.

In addition, certain automated lanes at the Woodlands and Tuas crossings are also disrupted, however there are no delays at the coastline checks.

"We have recalled off-duty police to give additional help in managing the situation and maintaining law and order," the ICA stated, adding that travelers at checkpoints are asked to comply with on-site authorities and to allow more time for immigration clearance.

Changi Airport said on Facebook and Twitter about 12.30 p.m. that "passengers should expect delays and contact our ground personnel if help is required."

Changi Airport is assisting passengers at its terminals and giving precedence to those with "imminent" flights, according to a spokesperson.
