Indonesian man sentenced to Jail in Singapore for recording sex with 76 women

In a disturbing case, a man named Johan has been found guilty of secretly recording intimate videos of women without their consent. The court documents reveal that Johan used a concealed camera hidden inside a power-bank charger to capture these explicit moments. Taking advantage of unsuspecting victims, he strategically positioned the charger towards the bed while the women were occupied in the bathroom or shower.

One of the reasons Johan's actions went unnoticed was that the power-bank charger did not emit any light while recording. This allowed him to capture videos without arousing suspicion from the women involved. He would later save these recordings on his laptop or hard drive, labeling them with the names of his victims and the date they were taken, presumably for his personal viewing pleasure at a later time.

To protect the identities of the victims, the court has issued an order preventing the publication of their names. Johan, whose occupation remains undisclosed in the court documents, did not distribute these videos to any third parties, suggesting that his motivations were purely personal.

According to the court documents prepared by Deputy Public Prosecutor Chin Jincheng, Johan first met one of his victims, a 25-year-old woman, through a dating app on January 6, 2021. Their initial encounter led to a series of subsequent meetings, where Johan would exploit the hidden camera in the power-bank charger to secretly record their intimate activities without the woman's knowledge or consent.

In total, Johan recorded 16 videos of this particular woman, depicting her fully nude with her face and genitals clearly visible. Initially, she was unaware of these recordings and only discovered one of them after Johan had secretly filmed her using his mobile phone. It is not clear from the court documents how she eventually became aware of the other recordings.

The woman's discovery came when she reported Johan to the police for a separate incident involving a recording made with his mobile phone. Upon further investigation, law enforcement officials seized Johan's laptop, leading to the discovery of a staggering 391 videos, with 336 of them containing voyeuristic content. In total, the videos featured 76 victims, including the 25-year-old woman and four other victims who formed the basis of the charges against Johan.

Eventually, Johan confessed to his heinous acts, acknowledging that the recordings were of his sexual encounters with various partners who were unaware that they were being recorded and had not given their consent. Disturbingly, he also admitted that he had purchased the power-bank charger with the hidden camera back in 2017 specifically for the purpose of secretly recording such videos.

For each count of voyeurism, Johan could face a maximum sentence of two years in jail, a fine, caning, or any combination of these penalties. It is hoped that the court will deliver a just and severe punishment, reflecting the gravity of Johan's actions and sending a strong message about the importance of consent, privacy, and respect for others.
