Jeremy Fernando, 43, a former National University of Singapore (NUS) lecturer and Tembusu College fellow, was charged with one count of molestation on Friday.
He is accused of molesting a woman at 4 a.m. on July 4, 2020, by kissing her lips.
There is a gag order on her identity and the alleged crime's location.
Fernando, wearing a mask and a black shirt with his hair pushed back, remained silent as he stood before District Judge Lorraine Ho.
In October 2020, it was announced that Fernando was sacked from NUS due to claims of inappropriate behavior.
Moreover, NUS filed a police report.
The judge set Fernando's bail at $10,000 and continued his case until April 21.
A person guilty of molestation may be sentenced to up to two years in prison, fined, or caned, or any combination of these punishments.
