KKH files a police report in response to a woman's 'erroneous' claim

KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) has filed a police report in response to a "incorrect" allegation made by a pregnant lady who claimed she had to wait four hours at the hospital to be treated for stomach pains and ultimately lost her baby.

Professor Alex Sia, KKH's chief executive officer, stated in a statement on Friday (March 25): "KKH wishes to clarify that the internet article on the event at the Urgent Obstetrics and Gynecology Centre (UOGC) is false."

Prof Sia said that there were inconsistencies between the account and the facts on the law that was posted online.

"We can categorically state that such a scenario does not exist. "Since then, we have filed a police report," he stated.

The woman's account of the February event has gone viral on social media.

She stated she came to KKH at 2 p.m. seeking treatment but was directed to the drop-off area.

She stated that she began bleeding at 5 p.m. but was still not responded to.

When she was finally seen by a doctor at 6 p.m., she stated that she was informed that she had lost her baby.

Prof Sia stated that this is a critical time for everyone involved in healthcare, and the hospital would do all possible to care for its patients.

"We take all input carefully as an opportunity to improve, but when there are lies, we must also confront them honestly," he added.

"We appreciate the public's support and for providing us time to conduct an investigation."
