Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdulla4h Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah granted an audience to Singapore Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan at Istana Negara.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir attended the audience, which began at around 2:20 p.m.
Also present were the High Commissioner of Singapore to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, the Permanent Secretary of the Singapore Foreign Ministry, Albert Chua, and the Secretary-General of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin.
Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Mej Jen Datuk Zahari Mohd Ariffin stated that the thirty-minute audience was part of Balakrishnan's formal itinerary for his four-day visit to Malaysia, which started yesterday.
"At the meeting, both leaders addressed the issue of deepening Malaysia and Singapore's historic unique bilateral ties," Zahari said in a statement.
Last year, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah undertook a four-day state visit to Singapore commencing Oct 25.
During the visit, Their Majesties met with the President of Singapore, Halimah Yacob, and met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife, Ho Ching.
In 2022, Singapore was Malaysia's second-largest trading partner and the largest in ASEAN, with total trade of RM336.73 billion (US$76.40 billion), up 30.8% from 2021.
