Man holds hostage with knife at Yishun gets arrested

On the morning of Monday, January 9th, a 42-year-old man was arrested for holding a woman at knifepoint near Yishun Ring Road.


The police said that they responded to a call for assistance at around 7:35 a.m., and that the suspect was later disarmed and arrested.


The 60-year-old lady suffering minor injuries refused to be sent to the hospital.


In answer to CNA's questions, police stated, "A knife was confiscated as a case exhibit."


According to early inquiries, the man and woman are not acquainted.


Videos circulating on social media depict a man putting an item to a woman's neck outside of a coffee shop while at least four police officers converse with him.


In another video, a guy who looks to be a member of the public assists at least eight police officers in keeping the man down.


Investigations by the police are underway.
