While married to another officer from the Singapore Police Force, Nursyafiqah Jasmi began an affair with another officer who was also married.
Despite Nursyafiqah's spouse discovering their affair and confronting the other man, the duo continued their relationship.
When her lover rejected again to leave his wife for her, the situation took a sour turn. She then resolved to exact vengeance by filing a false report of molestation against him, alleging that he had molested her twice and harassed her for months.
Staff Sergeant Nursyafiqah was sentenced to six weeks in prison on Thursday (July 14).
The 29-year-old Singaporean pled guilty to two charges of providing false information to a government employee. She had planned to contest the allegations originally.
The Singapore Police Force informed TODAY that she has been suspended from duty since 30 April of last year, and that internal disciplinary action has been initiated against her in response to her conviction.
It added: "Officers (within the police) are required to follow the law and sustain the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Officers who violate the legislation are punished harshly, including prosecution in court."
For each count of providing false information to a public official, Nursyafiqah may have been sentenced to a maximum of two years in prison, fined, or penalized with both.
