Reading Soh Lung Teo, Said Zahari and Zulfikar's Zai Nal narration about how they were detained under ISD, it's time to abolish the internal security act (ISA). Coercion, demeaning act. intimidation, and torture seems blatant without due regards to human rights. The ISA gives arbitrary decision to an officer of the ISD to decide whether a person is guilty instead of a judge or a court's verdict. In this time and age, any government should be transparent and accountable to its people. Detainees should be entitled for due process under our judical system. Allowing ISA to remain and continue to allow officers discretionary powers to detain anyone will be detrimental to Singapore should a rogue government takes over. That is not to say that the current government is any saint. To authorize the use of ISA, and denying detainees their chance to prove their innocence in court, is the hallmark of a corrupted and a dictatorship government.
