A Nanyang Technological University (NTU) student reportedly stood on a toilet bowl and peeked into the adjacent cubicle, which was occupied by another men, while at a men's restroom on campus.
Wang Yaofeng, a 23-year-old Chinese national who allegedly committed the offense on April 1 of last year, is now charged with offenses including insulting the modesty of another individual.
On Tuesday (August 23), he was charged in court and a $10,000 bail was set.
According to a statement sent by NTU to The Straits Times on Thursday evening, Wang has been suspended for two semesters, and his candidacy may be reconsidered following court punishment.
This was consistent with the policies and procedures of the university.
The institution has zero tolerance for sexual misbehavior, according to the NTU spokesperson. Depending on the type and severity of the offense, any student who conducts such activities may be subject to disciplinary action, which may include suspension or expulsion from the institution.
"The university provided assistance to the affected parties following the April event" (last year)... Further remark would be improper while the issue is pending before the court."
