On November 17, 2022, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bangkok, Thailand, outside of the 29th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.
The two leaders are meeting for the first time in person in the past three years.
During the pandemic, the two leaders had chatted and virtually met numerous times.
The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was recently concluded, and PM Lee congratulated Xi on it, according to a representative for the Prime Minister's Office (CPC).
The "close and multifaceted partnership" between Singapore and China was reaffirmed by PM Lee and Xi.
They also discussed how despite the pandemic and the changing global problems, both sides had kept their cooperation strong.
In addition, Xi gave PM Lee an update on the 20th CPC National Congress and his plans for China's development during the meeting.
The two leaders also discussed the significance of preserving stable U.S.-China ties as well as bilateral interactions, regional, and global developments.
