PM Lee shoots at opposition party for being missing in action

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong stated that Singaporeans cannot assume the government would govern efficiently without a strong and unambiguous mandate for the ruling party.

Moreover, he stated at the People's Action Party (PAP) biennial conference on Sunday that managing Singapore is "never solely about doing the simple things" and requires making tough decisions.

PM Lee, who is the PAP Secretary General, remarked that the opposition is missing in action when "spiky issues" like the repeal of Section 377A, which criminalises sex between men, happen.

But an opposition cannot "lie low and disappear" because it does not want to offend displease anyone, added PM Lee.
