Wednesday, President of Singapore Halimah Yacob met with Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, chancellor of Universiti Malaya (UM) (March 22).
Halimah, who is on a state visit to Malaysia, expressed her delight at reuniting with Sultan Nazrin, whom she last saw during the 2019 UM-National University of Singapore (NUS) Inter-University Tunku Chancellor Golf Tournament, in a Facebook post.
She stated, "During our meeting today, we reaffirmed the excellent ties between Singapore and Malaysia, including Perak, as well as the close cooperation between UM and NUS."
Halimah, in her capacity as chancellor of the NUS, stated that they also addressed the significance of racial and religious harmony in constructing cohesive communities, as well as the need for Asean to remain unified in the more uncertain geopolitical climate of the present day.
Halimah received a state welcome at Istana Negara on Tuesday (March 21) in conjunction with her first three-day visit to Malaysia, which began on Monday.
Halimah, who is also the patron of Girl Guides Singapore, visited the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia after the event and received a call of courtesy from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
