Quah Ting Wen is a well-known name in Singapore sports, alongside her siblings Quah Zheng Wen and Quah Jing Wen.
Recently, she kicked up a fuss about Gan Ching Hwee being chosen over her for the Olympics, even though Gan is a faster swimmer who can compete in more categories.
How much has Quah really achieved?
To be honest, not much. Her Olympics achievements have been woefully poor.
2008 Olympics: 34th place in 100m freestyle
2012 Olympics: broke her forearm while surfing, missed the Olympics
2016 Olympics: 34th place in 100m butterfly
2020 Olympics: 40th place in 50m freestyle
The drama with Gan Ching Hwee
Ironically, Gan Ching Hwee initially picked to swim in the Tokyo Olympics but was later withdrawn from the team when Quah Ting Wen lodged an appeal. In 2020, Gan Ching Hwee had a better time than Quah Ting Wen as well.
Did she make a fuss about it? No. When she was replaced by the slower Quah Ting Wen for Tokyo Olympics, she cried herself to sleep, and trained even harder until her next chance in Paris 2024.
Here she is, being an absolute class act about the entire saga.
But don't forget it was Quah Ting Wen's false start in the 2023 Asian Games relay that cost Singapore a bronze medal.
Should Singapore give the opportunity to Quah out of sentimentality? Or should the better swimmer be sent in the spirit of meritocracy?
