SIA flight bomb threat false: MINDEF



A 37-year-old man passenger on a flight from San Francisco to Singapore operated by Singapore Airlines was detained after allegedly making a bomb threat.


At around 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) fighter planes were dispatched to guide the airliner to a safe landing at Changi Airport, according to the Singapore Police Force.


In a Facebook update, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) stated that the man reportedly claimed that there was a bomb in a carry-on bag. He had also attacked the flight attendants.


After teams from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Explosives Defence Group of the Singapore Army and the Airport Police Division arrived at the airport to investigate the reports, it was determined that the threat was bogus.


Investigations by the police are underway.


Mindef stated that the ministry and the Ministry of Home Affairs collaborate around-the-clock to protect the safety of the nation and its citizens, and that they take any threat seriously.


They stated, "We appreciate our teams' professionalism and devotion to keeping Singapore secure."


Numerous Singaporeans have praised the RSAF for its prompt reaction. A lot of individuals also reported hearing the fighter planes flying by this morning at 5 a.m.
