Singapore would not need to tighten pandemic preparedness measures even if the number of Covid-19 cases continues its upward trend, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong told The Straits Times.
The newspaper quoted Wong as adding that the loosening of foreign travel restrictions will allow more employees to enter Singapore, with labor levels in the country's construction sector likely to approach "prior levels" by the middle of the year. More inflationary pressures should be mitigated by increased labor, he stated in the study.
After imposing the most significant relaxation of restrictions since the pandemic began, the city state is on the alert for a possible rebound in Covid cases. The rules for dining out, traveling into the country, and wearing a mask while outside are among the swath of regulations that were eased beginning in late March.
According to the publication, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung stated that restrictions restricting unvaccinated Singaporeans' mobility and entrance would not be reconsidered until the country's hospital situation was "fully stabilized." According to the article, both ministers warned that the situation might yet deteriorate sufficiently to influence their forecasts.
