Controversial Singapore-born stand-up comedian Jocelyn Chia had one of her viral videos removed by TikTok due to its violation of hate speech guidelines. The video contained insulting remarks about Malaysia, including criticisms of its economic development and a reference to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. TikTok stated that the video breached their community guidelines by promoting discriminatory content. They emphasized their commitment to being a diverse and inclusive community that does not tolerate discrimination or hate speech.
The video gained significant attention on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, leading to Ms Chia temporarily going offline on those platforms. While the offensive video has been taken down, Ms Chia's TikTok account remains active. It is unclear whether her social media accounts were suspended or if she chose to deactivate them voluntarily.
