The Turkish Embassy in Singapore is seeking donations of items, especially winter clothing for adults and children, to send to victims of the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey and neighboring Syria early on Monday morning.
It seeks a list of sixteen types of goods, including diapers, feminine hygiene supplies, and nonperishable foods. Tuesday evening, the embassy uploaded the list to its various social media accounts.
Tents and sleeping bags, which are necessary for temporary shelters, are also essential for earthquake victims. The catastrophe has resulted in tens of thousands of fatalities and tens of thousands more injured or homeless.
Those who desire to give may do so by delivering the products to SGX Centre 1, 2 Shenton Way, 10-03, where the embassy is located.
Items can be dropped off in person or mailed in.
The quake — the deadliest in Turkey since 1999 – was followed by more than 50 aftershocks, including one with a magnitude of 7.5, a magnitude that occurs rarely about 20 times a year, according to experts.
