On June 4, the police are investigating two men, ages 19 and 21, for causing public anxiety with an object resembling a shotgun.
Initial inquiry found that the alleged object was a toy gun.
The police were notified of the footage at 10:12 a.m. on June 4.
At 9.23 a.m. on the same day, a video was posted to the Facebook group Singapore Incidents depicting a man holding what appeared to be a shotgun while standing on a road and gazing at the car recording him as it passed.
Some commentators questioned if the shotgun was real, while others urged calling the police.
It is unknown when and where the video was recorded.
The names of the two men who uploaded the video were later determined by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Woodlands Police Division.
Toy firearms are on the list of controlled goods for import, and approval from the police's Licensing & Regulatory Department (Arms & Explosives) is necessary before they may be imported into Singapore.
