At the request of Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will make his first official visit to Singapore from Wednesday (Feb 8) to Friday.
Mr. Chinh's visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Singapore and Vietnam and the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Singapore announced in a news release on Tuesday.
On Thursday, he will receive a ceremonial greeting in the Istana and meet with President Halimah Yacob and Mr. Lee, who will also host an official lunch.
In addition, the Vietnamese prime minister will attend the Smart Nation CityScape show at the Singapore City Gallery on Maxwell Road.
"Both Prime Ministers will witness the signing of bilateral agreements that will further deepen the multidimensional collaboration between Singapore and Vietnam, especially in the digital and green economy," according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Chinh will also meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Lawrence Wong, the Senior Minister and Minister Coordinating for National Security, Teo Chee Hean, and the Speaker of the Parliament, Tan Chuan-Jin.
He will be joined by his wife, Madame Le Thi Bich Tran, as well as other Vietnamese officials.
As part of Singapore's "orchid diplomacy," Mr. Chinh and Ms. Tran will be honored with the naming of a new hybrid orchid.
