Want to Remember LKY? Show, not tell.

Updated: Sep 20, 2023

Over the weekend, the government and mainstream media outlets released a flurry of information on Lee Kuan Yew, commemorating a century since his birth on 16 September 1923. This is not what he would have wanted. Just take a look at this eulogy from one of his closer ministers, Ng Eng Hen.

The prodigious statesman made his message clear. Look past him. Consider ideas and values, not personalities. Actively grasp the reins of Singapore's future, not drown in nostalgia over rosy bygones (sappy CNA documentaries, we're talking about you).

The never-ending struggle to make Singapore a better place is the tribute that Lee wanted. We do it daily, in every one of our actions. Steer Singapore's future for ourselves. The future belongs to us.
